DATA PLOT |
||
Students or scientists can use this program to analyze any type of data collection. Remember that graphic solutions are only approximation. If you discover a relationship exists, you may want to actually plot the relationship on graph paper to determine more accurate results.
The program is base on the fundamental equation y = mx + b. If an equation can be written in the format of this equation it can be plotted. The y intercept b and the value of the slope m may not be of interest or have any physical meaning for the data that is being analyzed.. In some instance you can assume that b = 0 to simply your analysis. The analysis of the data seeks to find a functional relationship of X and Y if such a relationship exists. If the plot of the data appears as a linear function then a functional relationship might exist between X and Y and a general equation can be determined. The user may determine that no functional relationship exists between X and Y if no graph appears to display a linear function. |
